Floating.no was founded by a 34-year-old man from Arendal. The inspiration to start floating came when he tried it by chance in the spring of 2018. He recognized the physical and mental benefits of floating but found it too expensive for regular use. This sparked the idea of turning floating into a self-service product. With this concept, we could offer the market a more affordable price, making floating accessible for everyone to use regularly. Six months after the idea was conceived, the first center opened in Arendal in the fall of 2018. The product was well received, but the center was still a pilot project, and the concept needed further development to optimize user experience based on customer feedback. Making the center fully automated and user-friendly was a long process that eventually, after much effort, proved to function seamlessly.With that success, the desire to expand to Oslo emerged. Five close friends joined the team, each with significant expertise in fields valuable to the business. Together, we form a highly skilled team, and in the fall of 2022, we opened a center at Carl Berner in Oslo.Looking ahead, we also plan to open another center in the western part of Oslo.
Floating.no is a classic entrepreneurial story where the journey from idea to finished product involved thousands of hours of personal effort and dedication. One year before the company was set to expand to Oslo, the founder sold his apartment and all belongings, moving into a wooden boat to cut expenses and save money to make the Oslo expansion a reality. <All in or nothing> Our vision is to reinvest all income into further development and expansion so we can reach as many people as possible with a better product at a more affordable price. We are very proud to have developed and built everything ourselves. The center is powered by a custom-developed automatic system and a proprietary booking/access system.
