Is the water clean?
Yes, absolutely!
The water is purified using a particle filter that removes all particles above 25 μm (0.025mm) 7 times between each treatment session and a total of 115 times per day.
The water is also sterilized with UV-light 7 times between each treatment session and a total of 115 times per day. (Killing 99.9% of bacteria).
After each customer, a disinfectant (active oxygen) is automatically added.
An automatic measuring and dosing system maintains the pH level at 7.3 at all times.
In other words, the water is much cleaner than what you get from the tap.
The high 26% salt content in the float tank, purification system, UV sterilization, and disinfectants ensure that no bacteria or viruses can survive in our water
.
Approximately 15 liters of water evaporate every day, which is automatically replaced with fresh water.
It is mandatory to shower before floating.
Hygiene, cleanliness and tidiness?
We take hygiene and cleanliness extremely seriously, something you will experience when you visit us. We opened our first self-service center in Arendal in 2018 and have excellent hygiene and cleanliness protocols.
We clean the premises once or twice a day, depending on the number of customers. During these cleanings, we use chlorine wash to scrub the showers, toilets, sinks, tubs, floors, walls, and furniture.
Items touched by customers are washed with antibacterial agents.
The ventilation system refreshes the air in the room 18 times between each customer.
Everyone who books with us creates a user profile. If we receive complaints about someone not cleaning up after themselves, this may result in exclusion. We also conduct spot checks.
For a self-service offering to function properly, everyone must contribute by cleaning up after themselves. Individuals who do not maintain this standard are not welcome as customers.
We prioritize quality over quantity!
Is it safe to float in a self-service room?
Yes, absolutely.
Over 7000 float sessions have been conducted in our facilities without a single negative incident.
The water is only 30cm deep, and it's not dangerous to fall asleep in the tank, as explained in the next paragraph.
Emergency lights are available in the rooms, tanks, and waiting area in case of a power outage.
All electronic door locks are released if the power goes out.
There is a central fire alarm system in all rooms, and each room is built as an individual fire compartment.
The doors leading to the treatment rooms are solid exterior doors with mechanical locks.
There is an emergency number in the facility you can call if there is something wrong.
Only those who are floating and the staff are able to enter the facility/hallway.
The outer door remains locked throughout the session.
If you have a history of epilepsy seizures, we do not recommend floating without supervision. Please contact us in advance if you are bringing a companion.
Alcohol or other drugs are strictly prohibited!
What happens if I fall asleep?
Nothing else, except that you'll sleep very well and feel refreshed afterward.
As you float in water with high buoyancy, you won't feel any pressure anywhere, and thus, you won't need to turn to find a better position. However, if that happens, you'll immediately wake up due to the saltwater touching your face. There's nothing to worry about in this regard.
Moreover, the lights and purification system, which activate after 55 minutes, will also wake you up when your time in the tank is over.
Is it a claustrophobic experience?
No, it's not a claustrophobic experience in our specially built tanks.
There is plenty of space, with high ceilings, and the tanks are large (2.4m long, 1.5m wide, and 2.4m high).
You can exit the floatation tank at any time, and a dim light will automatically turn on.
Additionally, you have the option to turn on a starry sky inside the tank, providing a gentle light and a reference point.
If it still feels too dark, you can also turn on a faint blue light inside the tank.
These features are designed to make the experience comfortable and relaxing for everyone.
Will I be able to relax?
Most people find it easy to relax their bodies while floating; it usually happens naturally when you lie there and float.
It might take some getting used to relaxing your neck and leaning your head all the way back. There are headrests in the tank that you can use if you prefer.
For a few individuals, the challenge might be to relax mentally during their first few sessions. Without external distractions, the mind can sometimes wander. If unwanted thoughts arise, it helps to focus on your breathing or play soothing music.
Floating becomes even better with each session as you train yourself to truly relax and achieve deep relaxation. Free your mind.
Is the salt harmful to the skin or hair?
No, on the contrary! We use Epsom salt.
After a float, you will feel soft skin, relaxed muscles, and lightness in your body.
Epsom salt has many health benefits that you can read more about on the website
Ullevål kiropraktor klinikk
We recommend using the earplugs provided in the room. If you don't use them, make sure to rinse your ears thoroughly afterward to avoid hearing crackling sounds in your ears for the next few days.
Avoid getting salt in your eyes as it can be uncomfortable but not harmful.
Refrain from scratching your body, as the salt may cause irritation.
Use the Vaseline provided in the room on open wounds/cuts to prevent stinging.
If you experience any stinging on your body, it will subside with time.
Floating will not give you webbed fingers or toes like a swimmer's.
Salt will not bleach your hair during the floating session.

I get easily cold.
Is there anything I can prepare for?
Floating immediately after exercising can make some people feel cold since your muscles are warm. Wait for about an hour if you feel warm and are easily cold.
Spending the whole day in the sun can for some people make them feel cold in the tank.
Avoid taking a shower with very hot water before floating. It's better to shower slightly cooler than usual. If you don`t, you can end up getting cold in the tank.
When you're in the tank, it's essential to remain completely still. Too much fidgeting or movement can disrupt your ability to find calmness, leading to restlessness and feeling cold.
Restlessness and unwanted thoughts can also make you feel cold, so focus on your breathing and/or play some soothing spa music to find relaxation.
Sensitivity to temperatures can vary based on the time of day, season of the year, how you're feeling, and your mood.
You can adjust the amount of warm air inside the tank as per your preference using the control panel.
What is the water temperature?
The water in our tank is 35.5 degrees Celsius (95.9 degrees Fahrenheit).
The water temperature is set to match the temperature of your skin, not your body temperature.
It may take a few minutes for your body to fully adjust to the water, so don't worry if you feel like the temperature is not right at the beginning. Just give it some time to adapt.
Can I float after exercising?
Yes, it's a fantastic recovery method!
With 650kg of Epsom salt/magnesium, it helps muscles and nerves to relax, provides pain relief, reduces muscle cramps, and improves oxygen absorption.
If you tend to get easily cold, wait for about an hour after exercising until your body has returned to its normal muscle temperature before floating.
Pregnancy/menstruation, can I float?
Yes, absolutely.
It can be a liberating feeling to relax all the muscles in your body, especially since they are constantly working a bit harder during pregnancy.
However, you should assess your mobility and comfort level.
If you feel nauseous easily while lying on your back, we do not recommend floating until after your pregnancy.
During menstruation, you should follow the same practices you would in a public swimming pool.
Is there an age limit?
Y
es. If you are floating alone, the minimum age limit at our facility is 18 years.
If you come with a legal guardian, and each of you has your own room at the same time, the minimum age limit to float at our facility is 14 years.
Unfortunately, pets are not allowed in the facility.
Can I float with someone else?
No, unfortunately, it is not allowed.
The floatation tank and room are not designed for two people, but you and your companion can each float in your own separate rooms with the same booking time. In doing so, you will each receive a 20% discount.
Sharing the floatation session with someone else or splitting the session is not permitted.
Once the floatation session begins, it should be quiet.
If you need to leave before the session is over, please be considerate of the neighboring person in the room next to you.

Here are some useful floating tips:
Use the disposable earplugs provided in the room. Make sure they sit tight and good, for no water leak.
Avoid showering in excessively hot water before floating. Y
ou should preferably be
slightly cool before getting into the tank.
Dry your face and before gently lying down in the water so water drops don`t bother your face.
Avoid getting salt in your face and eyes; it may be uncomfortable but not harmful. Water is very salty.
Refrain from scratching your body, as the salt may cause irritation and bother your session.
When pump stops and session begins, keep your hands at the sides for a little minute to stabilize yourself. If you drift to one side, don't push off, as it may lead to constant back-and-forth movement.
Breathe calmly, lie completely still, and relax fully. It's not possible to submerge your head unless you consciously do so.
Experiment with different arm positions: by your side, near your head, or on your chest. Find a comfortable position for you. There are also headrests available in the tank who can be stabilizing for some people.
If unwanted thoughts occur, try playing soothing spa music and/or focus on your breath.
Remember to put your phone on silent and cover the screen to avoid light distractions.
Don't forget to bring a towel.
The use of the self-service center is at your own risk.
